landscapes:

the inward eye

I live between the Wiltshire Downs and the New Forest, not far from the sea. The shape, line, colour and texture of land and seascape is a constant inspiration. I walk every day, sketching, taking photographs, letting the landscape live inside me.

I paint, monoprint, draw, scratch, scribble and layer to produce sheet upon sheet of abstract expression of landscape. When cut and torn, these sheets provide the visual vocabulary for describing my response to landscape.

Occasionally landscapes from other times and places emerge from the collages as recognisable to me as a photograph - a spontaneous projection of the inward eye.

Acrylic monoprint collage on paper.
